The ACVD/AAVD Research Award is jointly offered by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) and the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology (AAVD). It provides grants for basic or clinical research in veterinary dermatology, supporting projects that advance the specialty and understanding of skin disease in animals.
Each year, a committee within ACVD evaluates and selects research projects. The ACVD Research Foundation, established in 1995 to fund veterinary dermatology research, has supported work leading to new diagnostic procedures, treatments for veterinary skin diseases, and recognition of new diseases. Its published funded studies encompass canine, feline, and equine dermatology, including investigations of itch pathways, inflammatory skin disease, antimicrobial efficacy, and diagnostic methods.
