    Description

The ACVS Foundation’s Surgery Resident Research Grant Program supports general and surgery-related research aimed at improving the quality of surgical care through evidence-based decision making. Projects should address a surgical problem using novel theoretical concepts, methodologies, instrumentation, or interventions. The program provides residents with a scientific research training opportunity, with studies designed for completion within one year.

The program is part of the Foundation’s Research Grant Programs, which have awarded more than $2 million over more than 25 years. The ACVS Research Committee reviews proposals and recommends awards to the ACVS Board of Regents for approval. Review emphasizes originality, significance, sound methods, investigator and institutional capability, and a justified budget. Residents new to research are encouraged to apply; a lack of publications does not reduce their chances of funding.
