Summary: Supports development and enhancement of programs implementing sex offender registration and notification requirements in Massachusetts.
The Office of Grants and Research (OGR) administers this federally funded initiative in Massachusetts to develop and enhance programs implementing the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). OGR uses funds awarded through the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant Program to carry out these requirements.
SORNA requires states to maintain a sex offender registry and requires sex offenders to register and keep their registrations current. Recent funded work includes improvements to the compatibility and data-sharing capabilities of software applications used by the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board.
