Description
The Addiction Medicine Fellowship offered by the UW Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is a pioneering, one-year, ACGME-accredited program designed to train physicians in the comprehensive clinical management of substance use disorders. Established in 2010 and recognized as a National Model Program by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the fellowship provides rigorous instruction and diverse hands-on experience in addiction medicine. The curriculum covers patient assessment, evidence-based intervention, harm reduction, integration of addiction care into primary care, and leadership/community engagement. Graduates are prepared for board certification in addiction medicine and are equipped to advance care for individuals with substance use disorders.
