Description
This grant, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), funds a single provider or consortium to implement a fully remote, year-round Statewide Distance Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education Program. The program is designed to serve adult English language learners, including those with degrees or credentials from their home countries, by providing comprehensive literacy, English language, civics, and workforce training. The initiative aims to improve participants’ English proficiency, digital literacy, workforce readiness, and civic engagement, ultimately preparing them for unsubsidized employment in in-demand industries and integration into local workforce development systems.
Grant activities must include integrated English literacy and civics education (IELCE), at least one fully remote integrated education and training (IET) activity annually, and robust student support and transition services.
