Description
The Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) funds powered, height-adjustable, adult-sized changing tables in public facilities across Tennessee. The program aims to make community destinations more inclusive for people with disabilities, aging adults, and their caregivers. Funding supports table purchases, installation, and reasonable renovation costs associated with installation.
The program serves facilities open to the public, including parks, recreation centers, malls, and restaurants. Tables must be installed in single-occupancy family restrooms that are universal to gender, with sufficient room for wheelchair access and caregiver assistance. The Tennessee General Assembly approved $1 million for the program in 2022, and funding has supported more than 40 installations statewide.
