This program provides cost-shared grants to assist with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) fees for pre-application and application review activities for advanced nuclear reactors and supporting facilities. The goal is to reduce regulatory barriers, accelerate deployment, and bolster U.S. competitiveness in advanced nuclear energy by directly funding a portion of NRC licensing fees. Projects can include engagement with the NRC for review of topical reports, white papers, and formal license applications, as well as regulatory activities related to supporting facilities such as fuel fabrication and spent fuel recycling. The program is open to a broad range of U.S.-based entities and is structured to support both early- and late-stage licensing activities.
