Key Information: Only one applicant per primary mentor and per distinct department at an institutional training site can be funded each cycle.
Description
The AASLD Foundation’s Advanced/Transplant Hepatology Fellow Award encourages exceptional hepatology trainees to pursue academic careers. It supports fourth-year transplant hepatology fellows and third-year GI/Hepatology dual-certification fellows in accredited U.S., Canadian, or Mexican programs. Travel funding enables attendance at The Liver Meeting and one additional educational meeting approved by the Research Awards Committee, with complimentary registration for The Liver Meeting.
Career development continues throughout the fellowship year through participation as an ex officio member of an AASLD/AASLD Foundation Committee or SIG Steering Committee. Donor-supported named distinctions recognize selected recipients, including interests in alcohol-associated liver disease and clinical health services/outcomes research. The Anna S. Lok distinction also supports direct liver-related research during the recipient’s first faculty year at a North American academic institution.
