The Susan S. Spencer, MD Clinical Research Training Fellowship in Epilepsy supports the development of early-career investigators interested in careers in patient-oriented research. It is funded by the American Epilepsy Society (AES), Epilepsy Foundation, and American Brain Foundation, in collaboration with the American Academy of Neurology. The fellowship forms part of AES’s broader commitment to epilepsy research and career development.
The fellowship was established in memory of Susan S. Spencer, MD, following her death in spring 2009. A past president of AES, she was professor of neurology at Yale University School of Medicine and medical director of the epilepsy program at Yale New Haven Hospital. The award honors her legacy through support for clinical research training in epilepsy.
