Description
The AFID Facility Grant Program is a discretionary economic-development incentive for new or expanding agriculture and forestry processing and value-added facilities in Virginia. Grants go to localities for the benefit of businesses, with the expectation that the funding will be critical to a project that creates jobs and private investment. The Office of the Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry administers the program through the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS); the Governor approves awards.
Supported work can include utility or broadband improvements, transportation access, site acquisition and preparation, building construction or build-out, and training. The program seeks to strengthen demand for Virginia-grown products and benefit the Commonwealth’s agricultural and forestal producers.
