This Horizon Europe Programme Cofund action supports the Climate Action pillar of the EU–AU Research and Innovation Partnership on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy (CCSE). It funds a programme of joint collaborative activities and transnational research calls, with particular emphasis on climate risk reduction and resilience in Africa. Priorities include climate data availability and sharing, information platforms, climate services, and co-design, co-development and demonstration with end-users.
The action should align EU, national and multilateral research efforts while strengthening African scientific and practitioner capacity through skills development and researcher exchange. It should promote collaboration across government, academia, business and civil society, raise awareness among vulnerable communities, and improve African science’s representation in international forums such as the IPCC and UNFCCC. Activities should build on the CCSE Roadmap and priorities identified by the preceding climate-pillar coordination action.
