Key Information: Only students entering MSc or Honors programs at one of three designated institutions may apply.

    Description

The Raptor Research Foundation’s African Raptor Leadership Research Grant supports education, dissertation research, and mentorship for residents of African countries. Its goal is to increase the number of African raptor champions by 30% over ten years, addressing declining raptor populations and limited local capacity to study, monitor, and respond to threats.

The program enables more ambitious student research focused on African raptors or threats such as belief-based use, illegal trade, poisoning, persecution, habitat loss, electrocution, and wind-turbine collisions. Alongside research funding, it seeks to strengthen in-country advisory capacity through collaboration with established mentors. Training may include statistics, project methodology, GIS, field visits, and raptor identification, capture, or tagging, with activities shaped by local capacity needs.
