Established in 2017, the African Studies Association’s Coordinate and Affiliate Organization Micro Grants support events or projects organized by its associated organizations during the calendar year. The program backs organization-led activities within ASA’s scholarly and professional community, with applicants asked to explain how their work furthers ASA’s mission of encouraging the production and dissemination of knowledge about Africa.
ASA Coordinate and Affiliate Organizations share scholarly or professional interests in Africa, often centered on a particular country, region, or discipline. They help ASA members connect with others who share research interests and promote academic and field work in specific regions and fields. Most also sponsor panels or roundtables and hold meetings or receptions at the ASA Annual Meeting.
