Funding can facilitate research, study abroad, or travel to present research at the ASA Annual Meeting.

The award honors Mahmoud Mohamed Taha, a Sudanese author, Islamic reformer, and founder of the Republican Brotherhood whose ideas emphasized peace, democracy, and complete gender equality. Recipients receive travel funding and a plaque presented at the Annual Meeting Awards Ceremony.
