This award supports an established investigator conducting impactful research to advance the fundamental understanding of gastric cancer pathobiology or to develop novel approaches for prevention, treatment, or cure of gastric cancer. The award encourages innovative studies in areas such as gastric mucosal cell biology, cell growth regulation, inflammation as a precancerous process, genetics and oncogenes of gastric carcinoma, epidemiology, etiology, clinical research in diagnosis or treatment, and research addressing evidence gaps in gastric cancer surveillance guidelines. The program aims to foster progress in the field and align with the mission of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA).
