Description
AgHIPS is a competitive proposal and project support program funded by the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station within the University of Maryland’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR). It supports research-only, teaching-only, extension-only, and integrated work in AGNR Strategic Initiative or cross-cutting areas. Its purpose is to help faculty lead transdisciplinary efforts whose scale exceeds what they can accomplish alone.
High-impact efforts bring significant funding or visibility to AGNR, involve many co-principal investigators across departments, colleges, or institutions, and require administrative assistance beyond existing capacity. Examples include proposals to USDA’s Sustainable Agricultural Systems and NSF’s Research Traineeship programs. The program combines financial incentives with pre- and post-award administrative support to develop large competitive proposals or initiate substantial collaborative projects.
