Description
The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) runs this program to help agricultural water users improve water use while maintaining viable agriculture and reducing water depletion. It supports innovative practices and new or updated infrastructure on farms and within irrigation or canal companies. Measurement, telemetry and reporting projects are also eligible for cost sharing.
The program aims to improve water quantification, document water savings and give agricultural water users greater operational flexibility. The Agricultural Water Optimization Committee establishes application periods and ranking criteria, reviews eligible projects and recommends awards to the Utah Conservation Commission.
