Description
The Fulbright Scholar Program’s Agriculture award supports professional projects, research, or combined teaching and research at Uruguay’s National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA). Work may address agriculture or environmental sciences through independently chosen or host-designated research, cooperative agricultural research projects, advising on ongoing and future research, seminars, short courses, and student mentoring.
Research may take place at INIA’s five experimental stations: Las Brujas (Canelones), La Estanzuela (Colonia), Treinta y Tres, Salto Grande, and Tacuarembó. Combined teaching/research projects ideally allocate 20% of time to teaching and 80% to research, with flexibility by agreement with the host institution. Scholars may also give public talks and engage with the host community to strengthen relationships between the United States and Uruguay and promote international understanding.
