AHRA’s Putting Patients First Program, supported by Canon Medical, funds innovative programs, training, and seminars that improve patient care and safety in medical imaging. The program supports work in diagnostic imaging, pediatric imaging, oncology imaging, medical physics, and radiation safety. Its goal is to turn improvements developed within individual imaging departments into best practices that other hospitals and institutions can implement.
Supported approaches include reducing radiation or contrast dose, reducing sedation, improving patient communication and comfort, and improving clinical pathways. Projects may develop safer imaging practices for children, create tools to ease anxiety during examinations, or train staff in patient-safety practices. Recipients share their work through an AHRA publication and provide measurable results from implementation.
