    Description

The Post-Assessment Consultation Grant supports practical, achievable projects that improve collections care by putting preventive conservation assessment recommendations into action. Offered by the American Institute for Conservation, with review and award administration through the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation (FAIC), the program is a 2027 pilot funded by Marc A. Williams, AIC Fellow. It focuses on preservation priorities that small and mid-sized collecting institutions can address through modest investments and conservator expertise.

Supported work includes environmental monitoring, light and ultraviolet management, collections care plans, staff and volunteer professional development, storage and space utilization planning, item-level surveys, condition assessments, and updated preventive conservation assessments. Projects combine professional consultation with related activities or purchases—for example, advice on datalogger placement and data interpretation alongside monitoring equipment or software.
