Description
The Washington State Department of Transportation’s Aviation Division administers the Airport Aid Grant Program to preserve Washington’s system of public-use airports and strengthen aviation infrastructure. It funds airport planning, land acquisition, construction, improvement, and maintenance. The program also helps airports meet the local share of federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants.
WSDOT Aviation competitively awards funds through an annual application cycle. Its priorities include airport pavement preservation, safety, and maintenance, security, and planning. Applications are considered in light of project need and benefits, including effects on safety, security, the environment, and airport operations. Funded work must remain available for public use.
