Description
The Ohio Department of Transportation’s Office of Aviation runs the Airport Improvement Program to support Ohio’s system of 104 publicly owned, public-use airports. It provides financial assistance for airport improvements through direct and supplemental direct grants for general aviation airports and matching grants for general aviation and commercial service airports.
Direct grants can support infrastructure maintenance, including obstruction removal, pavement marking, lighting and navigation-aid rehabilitation, and pavement rehabilitation or resurfacing. The program also includes a special grant associated with federally funded airport infrastructure projects; that grant was described as temporary for state fiscal year 2023.
