Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) administers the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) to help develop a nationwide system of public-use airports that meets current civil aviation needs and projected growth. AIP supports airport planning and capital work that improves safety, capacity, security, access, and noise compatibility. Examples include runway, taxiway, and apron construction or rehabilitation; airfield lighting and signage; navigational and weather equipment; land acquisition; and planning and environmental studies. Terminal buildings, hangars, revenue-producing facilities, and other development qualify only in specified circumstances.
