Description
Serve Alabama, through the Governor’s Office of Volunteer Services and Alabama State Service Commission, administers the Alabama AmeriCorps State Grant Competition with funding from the federal AmeriCorps agency. The program supports organizations placing AmeriCorps members in service exclusively within Alabama. Members participate in direct service and capacity-building activities that address unmet community needs through evidence-based or evidence-informed interventions.
The state competition offers Formula Cost-Reimbursement and Formula Fixed Amount grants. Supported areas include disaster services, economic opportunity, education, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, veterans and military families, and rural communities. AmeriCorps members help organizations expand services, develop partnerships, leverage resources, create sustainable programs, and recruit and manage other volunteers.
