Description
The Alaska Clean Water Actions (ACWA) grant program is managed by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), combining several federal funding sources into one application process. It supports best management practices (BMPs), watershed planning, public outreach and education, and monitoring for nonpoint source pollution or BMP effectiveness. All projects must protect or improve Alaska’s water quality.
ACWA brings together DEC, the Department of Fish and Game, and the Department of Natural Resources to share information and direct resources toward preventing or correcting water quality problems. The request for proposals identifies priority watersheds and requested work within each action category. Projects addressing those priorities may receive bonus points, while opportunities for work elsewhere depend on the category.
