Description

The Albany Area Education Foundation provides private, supplemental funding to support the continued excellence of Albany Area Schools. A Partner Fund of the Initiative Foundation, it works with the school district and community to spur innovation and expand opportunities in academics, activities, arts and athletics. Its grants support district programs and educational experiences for students and staff.

Funding priorities include rich, challenging learning experiences that encourage lifelong learning; educational technology that develops collaboration, critical thinking, communication and creativity; and community partnerships that teach vocational and life skills through hands-on experiences. Examples include work-based learning internships, job shadowing and learning from community experts. Local volunteer advisors guide classroom-enriching grant decisions, while the Initiative Foundation manages and stewards the charitable endowment.
