Description
The Albertine Literature and Translation program, launched in 2022 by the Albertine Foundation in partnership with Villa Albertine’s Books & Ideas department, the Institut français, and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, aims to promote French and Francophone literature through support for high-quality English translations. The program recognizes both the original French works and their translations, with a selection committee of independent experts choosing titles that reflect the diversity and vitality of contemporary French literature. Funding is available for the translation and publication of French books across all genres, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, children’s books, and comics, with the goal of fostering greater appreciation and accessibility of French literary culture in the English-speaking world.
