Description
Albertine Translation supports the English translation and U.S. publication of French and Francophone literature, recognizing both the merits of the original book and the quality of its translation. Albertine Foundation runs the program in collaboration with Villa Albertine’s Books & Ideas department, the Institut français, and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Support covers translation and publication costs across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, children’s books, and comics.
Launched in 2022 with support from the Florence Gould Foundation, the program expands and updates the former French Voices program. An independent committee of academics, translators, booksellers, and publishing consultants selects works reflecting the diversity and vitality of contemporary French literature. Associated Albertine Translation Prizes, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, recognize translators annually.
