Description
Albertine Theater is a program of Albertine Foundation and Villa Albertine supporting artistic exchange between France and the United States. Operating since 1999, it awards grants to French and American nonprofit venues for contemporary theater, circus, puppetry, street theater, and hybrid forms. Touring Grants bring French productions to U.S. audiences and U.S. productions to major international festivals in France. Creative Grants support collaboratively developed creations and commissions.
The program focuses on contemporary and innovative work, prioritizing artists whose work has never or rarely been presented in the partner country and Villa Albertine residents. Projects should reflect the diversity of the French and U.S. contemporary artistic scenes. Supported collaborations include English-language productions of contemporary French or francophone plays and productions pairing France-based directors with U.S.-based companies.
