It is open to US doctoral students working in the humanities and social sciences, with related fields such as museum studies and cultural heritage management also considered. All topics within this scope are considered, while projects examining archaeology and society at the household level are particularly encouraged.
The fellowship forms part of AIAR’s annual Fellows program, which brings US, Israeli, Palestinian, and other international scholars together in a shared research community. Fellows participate in the Institute’s academic life through public lectures, field trips, and other events during their residence in Jerusalem.
