The Marcia & Oded Borowski/Barton Research Fellowship is part of the W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research’s annual Fellows program. It supports doctoral students and recent Ph.D. recipients of all nationalities pursuing humanities and social science research on cultural development in the southern Levant, from deep prehistory through the Early Modern period. Related disciplines, including museum studies and cultural heritage management, are also considered.

The four-month fellowship places researchers within an international scholarly community in Jerusalem, bringing US, Israeli, Palestinian, and other international scholars together in pursuit of research excellence. Fellows participate in the Institute’s academic life through public lectures, field trips, and other events, while maintaining their fellowship research as their primary professional commitment.
