Description
The Aldo R. Castañeda Fellowship supports observational training in congenital heart surgery at host facilities in North America. Sponsored and administered by the AATS Foundation, it offers Latin American surgeons within their first ten years of practice opportunities to study for up to three months and develop skills for use at their home institutions.
Established by Dr. Castañeda’s mentees and friends, including members of the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, the fellowship is part of the Foundation’s Honoring Our Mentors Fellowship Program. Ideally, the host is a first- or subsequent-generation mentee of Dr. Castañeda. The award helps cover travel and living expenses, with additional support for recipients who attend the AATS Annual Meeting.
