The fellowship honors Dr. Aldo Castañeda and is designed to support early-career congenital heart surgeons from Latin America by providing an opportunity for up to three months of observational training at a North American host institution. The program aims to advance surgical expertise, foster international collaboration, and strengthen the network of congenital heart surgeons in Latin America. Recipients are encouraged to train under a mentor who is a first or subsequent generation mentee of Dr. Castañeda and are also encouraged to attend the AATS Annual Meeting.
