Scholars may propose their own project or collaborate on one designated by the host, with flexibility in the teaching/research ratio. The program strongly encourages curriculum development, program design, and student mentoring. Scholars are also encouraged to engage in public outreach, such as lectures and media appearances, to foster international understanding and collaboration. The Flex Award option allows projects to be spread across multiple short-term visits over two years.
