Description
The Stand-Alone Clean Energy Initiative (SCEI) Program provides capital funding to support the decarbonization of regulated affordable multifamily housing in New York State. The program aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by funding the replacement of inefficient space heating and domestic hot water systems with all-electric, high-efficiency heat pump systems. Additional funding is available for electrification-enabling upgrades and on-site solar photovoltaic installations. The SCEI is part of the state’s broader Climate Friendly Homes Fund and aligns with New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act of 2019. Awards are made as grants (loans available in limited circumstances), and applications are accepted on a rolling basis until program funds are exhausted.
