Description
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) runs the All Roads Transportation Safety Program to direct primarily federal Highway Safety Improvement Program funds toward safety needs on all public roads in Oregon, regardless of road ownership. ODOT regions and local jurisdictions compete through the same application process. The program aims to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes while supporting local road safety and effective infrastructure practices.
Projects may target a specific high-crash location through the hotspot approach or apply proven, low-cost measures more widely through the systemic approach. Systemic focus areas are roadway departure, intersections, and pedestrian and bicycle safety. ODOT uses crash data, safety benefits, risks, and project costs to prioritize work expected to deliver the greatest safety benefit.
