Description
The Allan M. Smillie Scholarship is offered through the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST) Ohio Valley Member Chapter as part of AIST’s Member Chapter Scholarships program. It supports students pursuing full-time education directly related to iron and steel production, supporting production, or managing steel manufacturing and distribution.
The award is one of six scholarships offered through the Ohio Valley chapter’s scholarship program, which uses a single application for all its awards. STEM Bachelor of Science degrees are preferred, while related Bachelor of Arts programs and STEM-related Associate of Science programs are also eligible. The chapter’s scholarship committee considers academic performance, particularly mathematics and science achievement, extracurricular activities, and the applicant’s essay.
