Key Information: Applicants ordinarily must hold a DVM, PhD, or equivalent and be full-time faculty or research-organization employees.
The Alpaca Research Foundation (ARF) supports peer-reviewed scientific research benefiting the North American alpaca industry, primarily in alpaca health, husbandry, genetics, and fiber. Its pre-proposal application is the initial stage of an annual research-proposal program. Successful applicants are invited to submit a full proposal.
Proposed studies should be hypothesis-driven, with defined objectives and preliminary work supporting feasibility. Applicants must explain the study’s importance, relevance to ARF’s interests, and contribution of new information. The pre-proposal also addresses expected results and their interpretation, methods grounded in relevant literature, statistical analysis, animal numbers, and available equipment and space. Clinical studies must demonstrate access to sufficient case material; multicenter investigations may be necessary.
