The Alpha-1 Foundation’s Detection Grants Award Program supports research focused on identifying patients with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AAT Deficiency). Its objective is to encourage new information that advances or improves detection efforts. The program accommodates single-investigator projects and proposals involving two principal investigators, with collaboration encouraged when developing detection efforts or strategies requires a team approach.
The program forms part of the Foundation’s broader support for rigorous Alpha-1 research, including related lung and liver disease. That research commitment aims to advance treatment and care and bring the field closer to a cure. Within this wider mission, Detection Grants focus specifically on improving patient identification.
