Description
The Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) program is administered by Pennsylvania DEP’s Energy Programs Office. Established under Act 166 of 1992, it supports cleaner transportation and alternative fuel markets to improve air quality, increase energy security, reduce dependence on foreign fuels, and advance economic development in Pennsylvania.
The program funds new alternative fuel vehicle purchases and retrofits, fleet-refueling equipment, and research, training, development, and demonstrations expected to lead to commercial applications. Supported transportation fuels include electricity, natural gas, propane, hydrogen, hythane, biodiesel, ethanol, methanol, and advanced biofuels. Funding priorities include first-time AFIG applicants, Environmental Justice communities, local governments, public-school districts, and entities serving vulnerable populations or providing medical services.
