Description
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Alternative Water Supply Grants help communities plan and implement conservation, reuse, and other water supply and water resource development projects. The program supports alternative water supplies while protecting Florida’s natural systems. Funding priorities emphasize regional projects in areas of greatest need and projects that provide the greatest benefit.
Supported work spans reclaimed water, brackish groundwater, surface water and storage, aquifer storage and recovery, stormwater, and desalination. The program also supports groundwater recharge, data collection and evaluation, water conservation, agricultural conservation, and the infrastructure needed to distribute and transmit water supplies. Projects involving public supply, commercial, industrial, and institutional uses, as well as other nontraditional sources, are also among the examples of funded work.
