The Alzheimer's Association's Large-Scale Science Transition Funding Program (LSSTF) supports major Alzheimer's disease and related dementias research initiatives built on NIH cooperative awards. It helps established initiatives move to their next development stage, pursue new funding mechanisms, or adjust their scale while preserving scientific assets and collaborative teams.
Funding supports scientific continuity through retention of essential investigators and personnel, study continuity through ongoing data collection and biospecimen operations, and diversification planning through co-funding, industry, or philanthropic partnerships. Applicants must present a credible one-year path toward a more diversified or stable funding structure. The program funds the transition itself—not new scientific projects, expansion of an initiative's scope, or open-ended bridge support without an endpoint and plan.
