Amazon Research Awards supports automated reasoning research that uses mathematical logic to answer questions and prove properties of critical computer systems. The call aims to improve cloud security, availability, and robustness through analysis of policies and configurations, verification of programs and protocols, and analysis of generative AI output. Priorities include sound neurosymbolic reasoning combining large language models, automated solvers, and proof checking, along with theorem-prover interfaces and methods for clarifying and assessing formal specifications.
The call also welcomes solver improvements, static analysis, model checking, correct-by-construction software, provable privacy and cryptography, software synthesis and optimization, distributed systems verification, and automated testing. Hardware modeling, hardware/software interfaces, circuit verification, and robustness testing or verification for perception neural networks—particularly object detection—are also in scope. The program seeks scientific impact and a larger, more diverse automated reasoning research community.
