The AMDF Young Investigator Leadership Award is designed to support early-career researchers—including research assistants, post-doctoral fellows, residents, and clinical fellows—whose work focuses on macular degeneration. The award provides flexible funding to address a variety of research-related needs, such as the purchase of specialized ophthalmic devices, laboratory equipment, scientific texts, educational materials, digital devices, and costs associated with attending vision research conferences. This annual award aims to foster leadership and innovation in the field, with the first award each year named in memory of Palmina Gioioso.
