ACS-Fanconi Discovery Boost Grant supports independent investigators’ exploratory cancer research, funding methodology development, feasibility studies, and pilot testing to open new areas of investigation.
Funder: American Cancer Society
Due Dates: December 1, 2026 (Winter cycle) | June 1, 2027 (Summer cycle)
Funding Amounts: Up to $135,000 annually in direct costs for two years, plus 10% indirect costs ($297,000 maximum)
Summary: Supports independent investigators’ exploratory cancer research to develop methodologies, establish feasibility, or pilot-test high-risk, high-reward projects.
Key Information: Winter 2026 Discovery Boost applications are restricted to the ACS-Fanconi RFA; out-of-scope applications will be withdrawn.
The American Cancer Society’s ACS-Fanconi Discovery Boost Grant supports exploratory research across the cancer research continuum. It funds methodology development, feasibility studies, and pilot testing of high-risk, high-reward ideas by independent investigators at any career stage. The Society’s Extramural Discovery Science department manages the grant process.
Projects must be highly innovative rather than a continuation of the applicant’s current work. Preliminary data are permitted but not required, although strong data or other supporting evidence are viewed favorably during review. The program expects the resulting findings to open new areas of investigation and help investigators secure additional funding after the project ends. The ACS-Fanconi request for applications defines the applicable scientific scope and intent.
