Key Information: Intended for recently independent investigators, rather than mentored trainees.
The American Epilepsy Society (AES) Junior Investigator Research Awards support research by recently independent investigators. The program aims to help investigators compete successfully for subsequent, longer-term support from the National Institutes of Health or other funding sources. It is part of AES’s early-career funding portfolio, which helps emerging researchers establish independent research programs and develop the preliminary data, publications, and momentum needed for larger funding opportunities.
Proposals are welcome across basic, translational, and clinical epilepsy research. Supported areas include disease mechanisms and treatments, epidemiologic and behavioral studies, development of new technologies, and health services and outcomes research. AES supports this work as part of its commitment to developing the next generation of epilepsy investigators and advancing discoveries that improve patient care.
