The American Headache Society (AHS) supports investigator-initiated pre-clinical and clinical research in headache and migraine. Projects should advance scientific understanding and improve the lives of people affected by migraine and other headache disorders. Research must align with one or more of the published Headache Research Priorities, which span human and animal models, pathophysiology, diagnosis and management, treatment, inequities and disparities, research workforce development, and quality of life.
The program prioritizes early-stage investigators, basic science research, postdoctoral fellows moving toward independence, and collaborations that bring established investigators from other fields into headache research. Awards are intended to generate meaningful findings and establish a foundation for future research and subsequent external competitive funding.
