    Description

The American Trust for the British Library (ATBL) Research Fellowship provides a $2,500 opportunity to conduct research at the British Library. It supplements short-term research grants already awarded by American research collections across the country. Through the American Philosophical Society (APS), successful Franklin Research Grant applicants who have expressed interest in the fellowship are referred to ATBL for consideration.

The companion Franklin program supports noncommercial research leading to publication across all areas of knowledge. It particularly helps scholars travel to libraries and archives, obtain microfilm, photocopies or equivalent research materials, and meet fieldwork and laboratory research expenses. These are the priorities of the underlying Franklin grant; the ATBL supplement specifically supports an additional research opportunity at the British Library.
