Description
The American Philosophical Society Fellowship supports research in any aspect of the humanities and social sciences at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH), University of Edinburgh. Sponsored through the Society’s Franklin Research Grants program, it provides a two- to four-month research stay, with a bursary contributing toward travel and subsistence.
The fellowship supports non-commercial research in an environment that encourages interdepartmental and interdisciplinary study. The Franklin program particularly supports research travel to libraries and archives, research materials, fieldwork, and laboratory expenses. Fellows participate in the Institute’s activities and present their current research. Access can be arranged to Edinburgh’s archival and online collections, including university and national libraries, museums, galleries, and the National Archives of Scotland.
