The American Philosophical Society (APS), in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh, offers a visiting fellowship for two to four months of research during calendar year 2027. Research in any aspect of the humanities and social sciences is welcome. Projects addressing disability and chronic illness are especially encouraged as part of the Institute Project on Chronic Illness and Disability.
IASH provides an interdisciplinary scholarly setting with access to the University library’s manuscripts and rare books, full borrowing rights, and a private office. Nearby libraries, museums, galleries, and archives offer additional research resources. Fellows join an active scholarly community through seminars, weekly fellows’ lunches, and events associated with current research themes, and are encouraged to develop contacts with relevant University of Edinburgh faculty.
