Description
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) provides a year of independent research support to early-career women postdoctoral scholars, including new applicants and eligible AAUW alumnae. The fellowship seeks to increase women’s participation in research, development, and academic leadership while promoting gender equity in higher education. All fields of study are eligible, with particular encouragement for applicants in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics or researching gender issues.
Supported work may include research, creative work, clinical inquiry, or applied-practice projects addressing an important question, need, or gap. AAUW emphasizes original, significant scholarship, feasible research and financial plans, long-term contributions to the field, educational experience, and commitment to advancing opportunities or equity for women and girls. The fellowship is part of AAUW’s American Fellowships, established in 1888.
