Key Information: Applicants must be psychologists up to 12 years postdoctoral with an eligible institutional affiliation.
The American Psychological Foundation’s Walter Katkovsky Research Grants support research that improves understanding of how psychotherapy promotes behavioral, emotional, or cognitive change. Proposals should address questions or hypotheses grounded in theory or methods, with the ultimate goal of informing the psychotherapy process. Projects may focus on a specific underlying assumption or question rather than psychotherapy as a whole.
Supported studies may use clinical or experimental designs, including simulations of aspects of psychotherapy such as learning or exposure trials. Participants may or may not be classified as patients. Research must collect new data and describe its experimental methodology, including hypotheses, subject selection, independent and dependent variable measures, and the psychotherapy being studied.
